Horses and farming have been part of Chris and Elizabeth Venimore's life for over 40 years. Once their four children grew up and married, friends suggested that their beautiful farm and welcoming home was an ideal place for visitors to the area who wanted to experience true old fashioned Kiwi farmstay hospitality.

WHAT & WHERE......
"Awariri" which means Wild Valley is a 1000 acre sheep and cattle station in the heart of scenic limestone hill country, between Port Waikato and Raglan Harbour.

One hour south of Auckland, this region is rich in breathtaking views, limestone cliffs, streams, native bush and pine forests. Enjoy a 4 hour horse trek (20 minute drive) to a long sandy beach with rolling surf, typical of the wild, unpopulated West Coast.

THE FARM.....
The 1000 acre farm is used for fattening cattle, a flock of sheep and about ten horses.

The "Homestead" block of 400 acres has rolling pastureland rising to steep hills. This steep country is well tracked, giving easy access to high points so you can enjoy extensive views. The other 600 acre block boasts 100 acres of stunning native bush with fabulous walks and rides.

Horse riding on the farm

HORSE RIDING ACTIVITIES.....
The farm has extensive horse riding trails for independent or guided horse rides - experience the stunning views over South Auckland, North Waikato and West Coast to Coromandel.

Many fences have safe, low hunting jumps and we're developing a Cross-Country course. For those not keen to jump, gates can be used without dismounting.

Six well mannered horses are available for hire but riding is not suitable for beginners - some experience is necessary.

FARMSTAY ACCOMMODATION....
We have 3 self-contained Cottages with 2 bedrooms, bathroom, living room and kitchen available.

Within the 85 year old Homestead we offer 1 twin bedroom with adjacent sunroom and shared bathroom.
